Tony Nolan: shooting straight with today’s students

Wednesday, January 21, 2009

You have heard all the demographic data before, but according to the best statistical information available we are doing an embarrassingly poor job of reaching the high school/college age group for Christ. In fact, many in that age group (sometimes referred to as the mosaic or millennial generation) who have grown up in the church are leaving it.

David Barton, president of Wallbuilders, stated, “It is the story of history that God uses the younger generation to revive and restore a nation that has fallen away. Therefore, the enemy often works to destroy youth before they can fulfill that destiny. It is no surprise, then, that today’s cultural terrorists have targeted youth for spiritual destruction.”

Monday, September 01, 2008

August 29th edition of The Wall Street Journal includes an article on adoption by Naomi Schaefer Riley that features Tony.  Here’s an excerpt from the article.

“Tony Nolan, an adoptee himself, now travels with Christian bands and speaks to their massive audiences about adoption. During “Winterjam,” a 30-city tour that recently concluded, Mr. Nolan recounted his story to some 350,000 people. His biological mother was homeless, mentally ill and a prostitute. A month before she died, he visited her in the hospital. “She grabbed me by the hand, looked at me and said, ‘The doctors told me not to have you,’ ” Mr. Nolan says. On tour, he conveys the message that “God knew what he was doing.” And after every concert, money is collected to help a local family with its adoption expenses.”

Press Release

Winter Jam Tour keynote speaker, tour pastor and spokesman, Tony Nolan, releases new book to help readers fuel their faith.

Zany author gives all-access pass to devotional journey used to refuel bands.

WOODSTOCK, GA—Like a combustible engine requires fuel, our spiritual journey requires faith to move forward. The fast pace of our digital millennial generation can deplete our faith—instead of enjoying Jesus, we merely endure the journey. Running on fumes is no fun. We need to make sure we have a fuel that can propel us toward extraordinary expeditions with God. In Faith Fuel, by Tony Nolan, readers will be cruising with a full tank, enjoying the journey Jesus calls abundant life. Through humorous and authentic backstage stories, readers will peer into the lifestyles and faith practices of A-list Christian artists and will capture a snapshot into their spiritual journey. Tony will be touring on the Winter Jam Tour from January 10 – March 16 with several artists including MercyMe, BarlowGirl, Skillet and Mandisa.

Filled with devotions Nolan led while touring with famed contemporary Christian band Casting Crowns during the 2006 LifeSong Tour, this book offers unique insights about their faith that will propel the reader on an extraordinary expedition with God. “Some of my best friends in the world are the band members in Casting Crowns,” says the author. “Because of the relationship I’ve shared with them over eight years while touring over 87 cities across America, we have shared some rich spiritual moments together.”

Nolan, who has a powerful personal testimony, knows a thing or two about being on the road—in addition to Casting Crowns, he has toured with bands like Steven Curtis Chapman, New Song, Jeremy Camp and Hawk Nelson. Tony’s teaching and faith-fueling ministry has been featured on Casting Crowns’ “LIFESONG LIVE” DVD and their latest release “Altar to the Door” CD. Under his ministry, over 450,000 people have connected with Jesus. In Faith Fuel, his ministry reach spans to an even broader audience seeking intimacy with God.

From Despair To Hope - An interview With Tony Nolan

Saturday, April 01, 2006

The following interview was given for the Journal of the Southern Baptist convention.

Tony Nolan is an evangelist from Florida and the co-founder, along with his wife Tammy, of TNT Ministries. God has used him to reach thousands of teenagers and adults for Christ. We spoke with Tony recently to discuss his life along with his methods and motivation for ministry. We are pleased to share a portion of that conversation.

SBC LIFE: Tony, you’re in evangelism. How did the Lord bring you to Himself in the first place?

Nolan: It’s the story of a soul looking for fulfillment in his life then ultimately finding it in Jesus.

My mother was a mentally insane street person who lived in Jacksonville, Florida. I’ve never met my biological father. I was put in foster care for the first three years of my life because my mother was institutionalized. Unfortunately it was a very unhealthy foster care situation where they abused me sexually and burned me with cigarettes and threw me up and down flights of stairs to bet on how long it would take me to heal from the concussions.
